There was a horrorterror who worked as her attaché, and it wore her mother’s face…
Now it stood in her doorway. “Hello to You, Rose,” it said.
They were unable to fully recreate her. None of the colours were correct. They were subdued, off, the scent of Chanel mixing with sweet putrefaction and the everpresent ocean salt, the hinges on the arms not moving quite correctly and the bones too sinuous to let it walk right. Too inept. Too ineptly done to hurt.
I’ve wanted to do an illustration for Taz’s brilliant fic, The Conscience of Eurydice ([link]), for well over a year now… I finally gave in. I hope she doesn’t mind — her writing just has some of the most vivid imagery and I couldn’t resist.
Wow if this is a bit from her actual writing it sounds to me like she is very versed in lovecraft, the original Cthulhu stories. How wonderfully detailed in her thought process; writing a story about horror terrors and she mimics the writing of the original. Beautifully done artwork for this too! I love the soft colors and the general lack of any hard detail. It allows for imagination to pick up on the fine points thus adding to the text below so wonderfully. The dark colors make a point as well. This was all masterfully done-a perfect pairing to the snippet of writing and the picture itself. Bravo! A real feast to the intellects mind.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for your kind comment! And the author is indeed versed in Lovecraft! Since Rose herself is a very Lovecraftian character, the writing style pairs with her really nicely.
But jeez, wow. Thank you again! This was so sweet!
Compliments are given where they are due. Really your style meshes so well with the writing style its almost scary.
The base talent is fantastic but the style leaves out just enough EXACTLY like the writing style. So vivid yet the way it is done it is left for you to fill in what everything is actually like "the scent of Chanel mixing with sweet putrefaction and the everpresent ocean salt," yes she writes this but what does that ACTUALLY smell like? The art presented here, it is the true embodiment of this writing style.
